United Methodist Women

First United Methodist Church has a very active chapter of United Methodist Women. Circles provide women the opportunity to build lasting friendships while also growing in faith and reaching out in service to others. Each circle meets at a different time and we invite you to pick the circle that best meets your needs and personality.

UMW hosts many events, including the UMW Cafe (to benefit UMW missions) and many service opportunities as well as the biennial Wonders of the Nativity at Christmas and UMW Presents, an evening of women’s fellowship.

UMW Circles (Small Groups)

Beth Berman Circle
The Beth Berman Circle is one group of fabulous ladies! We are in our late twenties to early forties. We come together monthly to chat about what’s going on in our lives, support each other through Christ and get hands on to help our community and others in need. Specifically, this year we have enjoyed welcoming guest speakers to our monthly meetings, visiting children at the United Methodist Children’s Home and packaging Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes so that children throughout the world will be able to experience the joy of Christmas.  Our Circle chair is Joanna Singleton.  For further information, please contact Joanna at 770-317-6818

Marie Rambo Circle

The Marie Rambo Circle is a welcoming group of ladies representing a wide range of ages and demographics who strive to share the love of God with those in need. Our Circle meets the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Room 104 at the church. We each bring our dinner and for our program, we typically study a religious book based on Scripture. In June, we have a special picnic supper at the home of one of our members. We support missionaries, Tim and Daina Datwyler in Ecuador.   We also support Sebastion, who is a student in Paraguay at the Methodist School. We team with the JoAnn England Circle  to serve at MUST twice a year as well as helping with other mission projects. For further information, please contact Diana Waldrop at 770-429-0204 or Tiffany Fannin at Tiffanyfannin76@icloud.com and 678-274-8152.

Nobia Frey Circle
The Nobia Frey Circle is a large group of middle-age women who gather for fellowship, spiritual growth, and witness through the support of a variety of local and international missions. We host programs sponsored by the UMW, supplement the needs of missionary families, gather and donate items and financial assistance for missions especially supporting women and children, and support a student at the New Horizons Methodist School in Paraguay. We meet the second Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. and welcome all visitors.  For further information, please contact Cynthia Rigsby, 770-951-2539.

Ruby Cooper CircleThe Ruby Cooper Circle is composed of women of all ages, primarily working women. We meet in the church parlor or members’ homes on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Our programs are Bible based, and we do hands-on projects that support women’s missions locally and globally. Each June, we celebrate the end of the UMW year with a Salad Supper, and we have a wonderful Christmas social event in early December. For further information, please contact Judy Davis at 770-422-6641.

JoAnn England Circle
Although the Joann England Circle was only formed in 2015, it stems from years of history as it is made up of ladies from the Wesleyan Service Guild, the Elizabeth Dosser Circle, and the Ruth Northcutt Circle.  Our meetings are on the second Monday of each month (Jan.-May and Sept.-Dec.) at 12:30 in the Reception Hall.  We enjoy a meal, great fellowship, devotions, and miscellaneous programs and projects each month.  We support and participate in United Methodist Women Missions and Ministries.  Contact Pat Evans at 770-422-7938 for more information.

UMW Events Throughout the Year:

UMW Café
With all proceeds going toward missions, the UMW Café is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch while supporting a good cause.

UMW Presents
Spend an evening with the women of our church while supporting local and global missions. Enjoy beautiful table decorations, an
inspiring speaker, and a wonderful meal. All proceeds benefit MFUMC-sponsored missions.

UMW Mission Banquet
An opportunity to recognize all that has been done for missions over the past year. We also honor those who have served the church in exceptional ways, and the evening concludes with a time to remember members of the United Methodist Women who have died in the last year.
