Baptism

Baptism is a mark of our entry into the family of God. As United Methodists, we believe that persons of every age can be baptized. We regularly baptize infants and children, and our congregation vows to nurture and care for them, committing to raise them in a community of love and forgiveness and to pray for them as they grow into disciples of Jesus Christ. We also rejoice as we baptize adults who are making a profession of faith and choosing to join our congregation and the family of God.

Weddings

As you plan your wedding ceremony, it is our wish to do everything possible to make this a joyful experience and an appropriate expression of our mutual faith in Christ and in the Church. Weddings in the church are a service of worship and are for members of First United Methodist Church of Marietta and their families. When two people enter the holy bond of marriage, they make a pledge to each other of faith and trust, and also enter into a covenant with God.
One of the most important things you can do to make your wedding a happy and memorable occasion for you, and all concerned is to read through our Wedding Policies. If you have questions, please contact our Wedding Coordinator at bethdawson@mariettafumc.org.

Funerals

Funerals are worship services where we acknowledge death and bereavement, and celebrate the gospel of resurrection. Services are most likely scheduled in our Sanctuary, open to all members of the congregation to share in the remembrance. Our pastoral staff is available to offer assistance, consultation, and leadership.
