Check-in & Safety Procedures for Nursery, Fuse Worship, and Sunday School

All check-in happens in the 1st Floor Nursery Lobby.  Children ages 8 weeks through 5th grade are asked to check in at our front desk to get their two-part security name label. One label is placed on your child’s back and one label stays with the parent to present at check-out. Please keep your label with the check-out number, as you will have to have it to pick up your child. You can also take a picture of it to present at check-out. Even if your child is only attending Sunday School (4th & 5th grade), we still ask that you check them in before service or before they head upstairs to our 3rd Floor Children’s Classrooms.

Please note that no staff are in the 3rd Floor Children’s Classrooms until after the Children’s Sermon each service, so there is not a check-in kiosk on the 3rd floor.

For the Nursery (ages 8 weeks – 4 years old), classrooms open 15 minutes before each service. For the safety of our children, the doors to the Nursery are closed and locked after the beginning of each service. If you check-in late or pick-up early, one of our staff will escort you to the Nursery area.

Pick-Up & Safety Procedures for Nursery, Fuse Worship, and Sunday School

Children who are in Nursery can be picked up immediately after each service and/or Sunday School. Parents are able to walk to their child’s Nursery Classroom to pick up their child. Parents must show their numbered label to pick up their child.

Children who are in Fuse Worship can be picked up immediately after each service from the 3rd Floor Fuse Box. If children who attend 9am service are attending Sunday School, staff will escort them to their Sunday School class. Children who attend Sunday School can be picked up from their age group’s Sunday School classroom. All children must be picked up after the Sunday School hour by 11:10am.

Wellness Policy

For the health and safety of our children and staff, we ask that children not attend any of our Children’s Ministry offerings if they have any of these health issues or symptoms, and must be fever and symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to us:

    • Fever

    • Vomiting or diarrhea

    • Any symptoms of childhood disease such as chickenpox, hand/foot/mouth, etc.

    • Sore throat, cough, loss of taste/smell, difficulty breathing

    • Pink eye

    • Any unexplained rash

    • Any skin infection such as ringworm, etc.

If a child experiences any of the above while with us, we will contact you to pick them up immediately, and we ask that they not return until they are symptom free for 24 hours.

What to Expect

Nursery
8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – 1st Floor Nursery Hall
Our infant and toddler nurseries are staffed with experienced childcare workers. All staff are background checked, CPR and First Aid certified, and trained on basic emergency procedures. We run two Nursery rooms: an Infant & 1 Year Old room and a 2 – 4 Year Old room. We promote children from one Nursery room to the next based on age. In both rooms, children have age-appropriate activities, hear a Bible story and songs, and have open-ended play time.

For the Infant & 1 Year Old Room, we ask parents to:

  • Bring a labeled diaper bag with diapers, wipes, prepared bottles, and pacifiers.

  • Let staff know of any feeding or napping schedules details they need to know.

For the 2-4 Year Old Room, we ask parents to:

  • Bring a labeled diaper bag with diapers, wipes, cups, and a change of clothes if potty training.

  • Let staff know if your child is potty training.

  • Let staff know if you do not want your child to partake in a graham cracker snack.

Helpful Nursery Hints

  • Be consistent with your church attendance. Your child will learn that church is a fun place to be if they come weekly, and this will make the separation from parents easier.

  • Do not be discouraged – crying is normal. Most of the time the crying does not last long. Reassure your child that you will be back, and trust that the nursery workers will nurture your child.

  • Prepare your child before you come to church. Remind your child how much fun they are going to have playing with toys and their friends and learning about Jesus. “Talk-up” the setting in a positive upbeat manner.

  • God cares about your child. Pray about your concerns and remember, never be afraid to ask questions and make suggestions. Please feel free to ask anytime you have questions or concerns.

Soothing Room For Our Youngest Worshipers

We have a soothing room available during 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. worship services in the foyer of the Sanctuary, furnished with rocking chairs, a changing table, and live worship on the TV.

Fuse Worship
9am – 12:15pm - 3rd Floor Fuse Box

Fuse Worship is for children ages 4K (age 4 or in a 4K class as of Sept. 1) through 3rd grade. Children sit in worship with their parents, then leave with Children’s Ministry Staff after the Children’s Sermon. In Fuse Worship, children participate in age-appropriate activities and games, hear a Bible story, and worship together. The curriculum we use is Orange, which provides a monthly theme around a specific virtue (for example, August is “Creativity”) and verse. Each Bible story has accompanying activities, videos, and crafts to reinforce what we’re learning.

Sunday School
10:10am – 11am – 3rd Floor Children’s Hall

Sunday School is for children ages 4K through 5th grade. Our Children’s Sunday School classes are taught by Safe Sanctuary trained, background checked volunteers who are committed to teaching our children more about God’s love and the life of Jesus.  We use Orange Curriculum for our Sunday School classes, which helps each group dig deeper into the Bible story and accompanying concepts in age-appropriate ways through activities, crafts, and videos.

All Children’s Sunday school is held on the third floor of building B and is divided by ages into the following groups:

  • 4K & Kinder

  • 1st & 2nd grade

  • 3rd – 5th grade
