Refugee Day of Service-Marietta Church Coalition

On Saturday, October 5th Refugee Day of Service will be a Marietta Church Coalition event, including members of First Baptist and First Presbyterian church along with MFUMC.  MFUMC will be loading up one bus to Clarkston, at 9:00 am, to spend the day working on service projects with partner organizations that support refugee communities in Atlanta. For those unable to attend the day of service, there is donation component. See list of needed items, please put in bins located around the church until October 5th.

The groups will complete service projects at 3 venues that serve the refugee community in Atlanta. Our partner organizations will be Welcome Co-Op, Friends of Refugees', Jolly Avenue Community Garden, and Embrace Refugee Birth Support. Here is some information about the service projects we will be completing for these organizations.

Welcome Co-Op - Jobs include sorting Welcome Kit donations, building kitchen tables and chairs, and organizing /operating the Shop of Hope. For more information about this group click here for their website. Located at 3125 Oakcliff Industrial St. Doraville, GA.
Friends of Refugees Jolly Avenue Garden - Jobs include fall planting, harvesting, weeding and campus clean up at their Clarkston Location. For more information, click here to visit their website.
Embrace- Sorting, organizing, labeling birthing and infant supplies.

For those not attending the Day of Service, there is a donation component.

Collection of Welcome Kit items; Drinking glasses, light bulbs 4-pack, small and large kitchen knives, dish detergent, scouring powder, sponges 2 pack, trash bags box of tall kitchen size, laundry detergent liquid or powder, can opener manual, notebook, pack of pens, shower curtain and rings.

Embrace Refugee Birth Support Needs; gently used non expired infant car seats, pack n plays, gently used 0-3 month clothing, disposable diapers size 1-6, lightweight strollers/frames, baby wipes, baby shampoo, diaper cream, digital thermometer, feminine pads.

Collection bins at the church till October 5.
