Funerals are worship services where we acknowledge death and bereavement, and celebrate the gospel of resurrection. Services are most likely scheduled in our Sanctuary, open to all members of the congregation to share in the remembrance. Our pastoral staff is available to offer assistance, consultation, and leadership. Contact one of our three pastors at any time for care and support in death, dying, and memorial service planning.

During this difficult time, the church reminds all that not only has the departed experienced a transition, but the loved ones left behind can confidently rely on a faithful God who is able to impart peace and comfort to enable them to find strength and the will to live a life of hope and promise.

First United Methodist Church of Marietta offers compassion and support to bereaved families by:

  • Assisting in the planning of a funeral or memorial service.

  • Providing a minister to officiate at a funeral or memorial service either here or at another location.

If you have a death in your family and would like to have the service at MFUMC or have one of our ministers officiate at another location, please contact Beth Dawson. Pastors will contact the family and meet with them to make arrangements for the funeral service.
