Camp Brings Hope to Children of Incarcerated Parents

-by Kelly Krivsky
I am leaving for Camp Hope next Saturday morning, July 16. Camp Hope is a summer camp for children with incarcerated parents. Fees paid by counselors and financial contributions by supporting organizations help pay the way for a camper that otherwise would not have the opportunity for sleep away summer camp.

Kidz2leaders, inc. exists to help change the lives of prisoners' children and to break the vicious cycle of incarceration. Through the ongoing efforts of Kidz2leaders, children can rise above their circumstances, learn to become leaders and discover a life of hope through Christian programming and a fun environment.

Camp Hope is just one part of the process. Kidz2leaders, inc. follows these campers year-round with other social opportunities and a Christmas get-together. Many of these campers go through training and return to Camp Hope to be counselors and cabin leaders. These children learn that they are children of God and there is hope and help to rise above their circumstance.

Kelly Krivsky joins other MFUMC members Kathryn Price, Kelly, Christina, Matthew, and Jacob Lee, and Olga Hamilton at Camp Hope on Saturday July 16. Kelly will serve as camp nurse. Kelly would like to encourage anyone who is interested to contribute to Camp Hope by donating bottled water, individually packed snacks (Teddy Grahams, Cheez-it's, etc) and small/mini stuffed animals to give to those campers that
visit the nurse clinic. Click here if you would like to help >>
