Local Mission

We acknowledge the Mystery of God:  One way to explore the unfathomable depths of God’s love and grace is through the sacramental nature of the poor and the destitute in our midst.  Person to person interaction is crucial.  We are on a journey together to discover our True self that God has created us to be:  We are created in God’s image. Service with one another in order to proclaim the promises of Christ in an inviting and compelling way will let Christ show.  We are a part of our church which in turn is a part our local community and God’s Kingdom.  We take responsibility for our part in our Community through sharing of our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our witness.  We seek to establish meaningful relationships with the people we seek to serve.

We Actually Can Feed 5000
Every Friday, MFUMC Communities prepare and serve a hot lunch at the Fishes and Loaves Kitchen of our partners in community development, Must Ministries.  You can take part in this service opportunity as an individual or with your Sunday school class, ministry team, or other small group. You can also help on "at large" days, when individuals help in our effort to feed 5000 people a hot lunch this year.
For information about how you can be a part, contact Carla Bass.

Share the gift of good health!
You can make a difference in the lives of others by si mply being a regular blood donor.  We believe one of the most basic gifts we have is the ability to take part in developing a strong local community by giving of ourselves... literally!  Regular Blood Drives make sharing the gift easy and an ongoing part of our local mission.  Interested in helping make our blood drives a part of our Discipleship Process?  For more information, contact us at fumcmblooddrive@gmail.com

Words from our Community Development Partners:

MUST Ministries in Need - we are putting out a desperate call for help: their food pantry shelves are bare. The demand for food is up 200 % from this time last year. Collection barrels will be in the FLH and outside the sanctuary this Sunday, September 5.  Any items are welcome but they are running low on the following:
canned chicken, canned tuna, canned ham, flour, instant potatoes, jelly, dry milk, grits, oatmeal, canned vegetables, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, rice, and mac and cheese.

Other Community Building Opportunities:
  • Great Day of Service
  • Must Sack Lunch
