Cherub Choir and Joy Song
Joy Song - born 9/2008 - 8/2009
Cherub Choir - born 9/2007 - 8/2008
Cherub Choir has grown so much over the past few years that we have divided the
choir into Joy Song (for 4's) and Cherub Choir (for 5's). Choirs will meet together often
and always sing in worship together, but dividing into two groups for rehearsal is optimal to increase learning.
Members enjoy making music together by learning simple songs, exploring body percussion,
matching pitch and hearing Bible stories. At the beginning of the year parents may sit in on rehearsals if the child is particularly shy, but we ask that you encourage your child to sit with his/her peers. It is also helpful if younger siblings do not drift into the rehearsal room. Immediately after the children’s sermon, singers are dismissed to room 208.
If they are not met in 208 by a caregiver, they will go as a group to Fuse Box worship on
the 3rd floor and be picked up after sanctuary worship is concluded.
Rehearsal schedule (August - April)
Wednesdays
4:30-5:15 p.m.
Joy Song: Room 252 Discipleship Center
Cherub Choir: Room 251, Discipleship Center
Director: Nancy Hodges

With our ever-growing children’s choir program, it is imperative that we know where children are at all times when they are in our care. If you have a special reason to deviate from these procedures, please discuss it with your children’s choir director and be sure to give a written note to your children’s choir director before the rehearsal or worship service.
Dismissal Procedures
Your children’s safety is very important to all of us. Because of this and the increasing traffic in our parking lots, we are asking all parents of children up through Grade 2 to accompany your children to and from the choir room. Car pool has been discontinued. Grades 3 and up may go with a group to the Family Life Hall for dinner. A youth older than grade 5 may come and escort a chorister to dinner. Children picked up later than 5:25 will be escorted to the Nursery (room 114) underneath the sanctuary.
Attendance Awards
Participation awards are given to all Cherub Choir members. Beginning in Carol Choir through grade 5, children are elegibel to earn a United Methodist Hymnal for the first year, a Faith We Sing hymnal supplement in the second year and bookplates in subsequent years. These are awarded to singers present for 95% of all worship services and rehearsals.
